What you read is that carbohydrates make you fat, or advance making you gain weight. It has some truth, but do not be afraid of carbohydrates. Your body must have carbohydrates for energy. When broken down, these carbohydrates are turned into energy. Roughly 1/3 of your diet should be made up of carbohydrates. The weight gain comes from eating too much carbohydrates and then not getting enough exercise to use up that stored energy. Don't have Sweets - Many folks would say that you should avoid sugars entirely. The truth is you can have some every now and then. Just keep things in moderation. We need to be gratified not only physically but also emotionally. It also keeps you encouraged when you reward yourself for your hard work. The ideal time to eat sweets is usually after getting exercise. Your body will metabolize that simple sugar and will not store the calories. A great after exercise meal would be something high in protein and simple carbs. Eating Less Means You Don't Have to Exercise - Never think you don't need exercise. Did you know that exercising helps improve your metabolic rate? When exercising you develop muscles and burn extra fat pounds you may have.
